Calcium is one of the essential elements for saltwater aquariums. Corals, sea-anemones,mushroom-coreals and lime-seaweed in a reef ecological system require sufficient calcium ions to ensure an even growth. The ideal calcium level in a reef ecological system is beteen 400~450mg/1. The calcium level should be regularly tested to maintain a balance in a reef ecological system.
